Lets try making a Simple Vinaigrette Salad Dressing
Here is what you will need to make one serving, and ask an adult for help in measuring each ingredient, if you are not used to using measuring cups and spoons:
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- 1 teaspoon vinegar
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- Salt and pepper
- Medium sized bowl
- Whisk
How to do it?
- Put mustard in the bowl
- Add vinegar, then whisk it slowly, until mixed
- Slowly add oil, while continuing to whisk
- Watch closely as dressing gets smooth
- Add salt and pepper as desired
What happens?
If you look really closely, you may realize that you have not made a full mixture. You may see oil bubbles floating in vinegar with the help of mustard. This is called an emulsion.
